I'm passionate about solving problems, with a particular love for building something that actually matter in people's daily lives.
It took me a while to realize that problems can also be solved without technology, and lately I'm learning to appreciate that approach.
Seems obvious now, but took me longer than I'd like to admit.
Professional Life
Currently, I work as Product Lead at Skit.ai, a Conversational AI startup. In addition to the following formal roles in the last ~8 years here, I have worked as what the startup world calls a Generalist — doing many unnamed things across functions.
Product Lead — 2018-Present
Product Manager — 2018-19
Software Engineer — 2017-18
Before joining Skit.ai, I worked in a contractual role with Plotly, where I worked on interactive reporting explaining the capabilities of Dash.
Before the “Real World”
In college, long before I had a job title, I was the kind of person who coded for fun. I contributed to open source projects and built things while my attention to coursework kept going downhill. Guess I was following F*ck Around and Find Out a decade before it was popular.
Contributing to the Go programming language is one of my proudest moment from those days. (reference)
I also have a keen interest in Data Visualization and wanted to join the NYT Interactive News team as a Data Journalist, a role I did not know existed until I fell in love with the work done by TheUpshot.
Beyond Work
I am based out of Bangalore, where I live with my wifeand a dog (not really! I haven't been able to convince her on this).
Photography has been a constant companion since I got my first ever smartphone. Recently, I upgraded to my first proper camera — Canon R100 — though I suppose that depends on whether you count point-and-shoot cameras as 'proper.' (Check Photos)
In addition to a fast fading love for Cricket, I have a somewhat unusual sporting interest: Polo. I love watching it, and one day I want to try my hand at it. The last three generations of my family have played as recorded, so I’m hoping some of that might have rubbed off on me.
Other than that, I like collecting proverb and using them in daily life. I’ve recently recovered from Stage-IV Tsundoku and trying to get better at adulting in general.
